Early Years
Nursery & Foundation Stage

Nursery: A Gentle Beginning
Nursery is where children first experience learning away from home. Our caring teachers and assistants create a warm, nurturing environment that encourages exploration, play and confidence—without pressure. Parents receive daily diaries, sharing updates on activities, achievements and wellbeing.
The nursery is the natural extension up from the family, not the natural extension down from school

Early Years Learning at HISV
At HISV, the Early Years Foundation Stage combines play, exploration, and structured learning to develop curiosity, confidence and foundational skills.

The Importance of Play
Play is the cornerstone of Early Years learning. Through play, children develop language, emotional awareness, imagination, social skills and problem-solving abilities. Indoor and outdoor play encourages exploration, experimentation and curiosity, while teachers guide and extend thinking for deeper engagement.
Key Skills Developed Through Play:
Language & communication
Emotional awareness & resilience
Imagination & creativity
Social skills & problem-solving
Areas of Learning & Development
